As of today, JanesAddiction.org and Perry-Farrell.net have merged into this single website. This has been a long time coming, and mostly has been held up by me needing to sit my ass down and do the server work to get it done. For those of you unaware, I have been hosting PF.net on my server for quite some time now and of course Mike has been amazing with his help in nailing down an unbelievable amount of solid tour information and more. So it really was the natural move to combine our efforts.
There is still some work to be done, but most of the stuff from PF.net has been moved and setup over here. The rest will follow shortly, and in the near future, the PF.net domains will simply redirect you here to JanesAddiction.org. All and all, I think this is a really positive move for both sites, and together we’ll continue to be the best single Jane’s Addiction information resource online.
Mike and I have been hard at work updating the tour section. Cleaning up venue names, adding artwork, and most importantly adding new shows and correcting info for existing shows. We’re in dire need for ticket and poster (etc.) scans for the 2009 shows. So if you have something Jane’s related that you can scan for the site, we’d love to have it. You can email scans to: submissions < at > janesaddiction < dot > org – thanks!
Discography updates coming soon…
Yes, this site is still around. I finally got around to adding the rest of the 2009 tour dates as well as the upcoming Halloween and 2010 Australian dates to the site. Meanwhile, Mike has been working like crazy adding a ton of great info (including some newly uncovered dates) to the tour archive. So check that out. Discography updates are in the works, so stay tuned…
According to Etty Farrell and Eric Avery’s twitter feeds, Perry Farrell tore a calf muscle last night during the NIN/JA show in Atlanta, GA last night. The injury happened during Three Days, Jane’s Addiction’s opening song. Perry, the consummate performer, powered through the pain and Jane’s was able to complete their set. Perry has been given the recommendation to stay off his leg for a week. I doubt this will lead to Jane’s canceling any dates, it will just limit what Perry can do on stage. If any dates are canceled, I will let you know.
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been wrapping up grad school, moving, and taking care of some other personal things. So time for online work has been limited recently. I’ll try and get the ever growing backlog of stuff online in the coming weeks and hopefully start getting regular updates going again. Until then, I hope everyone is enjoying the NIN/JA tour!
Jane’s Addiction has added another date to their spring 2009 tour. They will be playing the nTelos Wireless Pavillion in Portsmouth, VA on June 13. This is not a NIN/JA date, as NIN will be playing the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee that same day. Tickets go on sale next Friday, April 23rd at 10am.
Perry celebrated his 50th birthday this past weekend at the Mirage in Las Vegas with the aptly named “Perrypalooza”. There were a number of performances that night from various celebrities. Jane’s Addiction closed out the night, but equally as important is the fact that this night was the first time in 12 years that Porno For Pyros performed together. Perry, Steve, Martyn and Pete cranked out Meija and Tahitian Moon.
Here are a couple of articles for those who want to read about all the fun:
Just a reminder, the Jane’s Addiction box set Cabinet of Curiosities comes out next Tuesday. There are two main flavors, a regular and limited edition version. Musically, the two versions are identical, but the limited edition version has a few extras inside the box for die hard collectors. This version is limited at 7500 numbered copies, and there are rumors that pre-orders have already claimed most of them. Also, Best Buy has a their own special edition which includes a bonus disc containing four live tracks taken from the Irvine Meadows Lollapalooza shows on July 23rd and July 24th, 1991.
Also coming out next week are Rhino Record’s vinyl reissues of Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual de lo Habitual. Both are being released on high quality 180 gram vinyl. This is the second time Ritual has recieved the 180 gram vinyl treatment, but I believe it is the first time for Nothing’s Shocking. These are must haves for vinyl afficinacondos, and die hard Jane’s fans alike.
Edit: The non limited-edition “slipcase” version of the Cabinet of Curiosities box set is due May 5th.
